بِسْمِ اللهِ الرَّحمْنِ الرَّحيم

In the name of Allah,The Beneficent, The Merciful

اللهم إنك قلت في كتابك المنزل :

 allahumma innaka qulta fiy kitabika almunzali:

 O Allah: You have said in Your revealed Book:

”شَهْرُ رَمَضَانَ الَّذِي أُنزِلَ فِيهِ الْقُرْآنُ.“

 “shahru ramazana alladhiy unzila fehi alqur’anu.”

 “The month of Ramazan in which the Qur’an was revealed…”

وَهذَا شَهْرُ رَمَضانَ

 wahadha shahru ramazana

 And this month of Ramadhan

وَقَدْ تَصَرَّمَ

 waqad tasarrama

 is about to slip away.

فَأسْألُكَ بِوَجْهِكَ الْكَرِيمِ

 fasaluka biuajhika alkaremi

 I thus beseech You in the name of Your Noble Face,

وَكَلِماتِكَ التّامَّةِ

 wakalimatika alttammati

 And Your Perfect Words,

إنْ كانَ بَقِيَ عَلَيَّ ذَنْبٌ لَمْ تَغْفِرْهُ لي

 in kana baqea `alayya dhanbun lam taghfirhu le

 If I am still liable to a sin that You have not yet forgiven

أوْ تُرِيدُ أنْ تُعَذِّبَنِي عَلَيْهِ

 aw turedu an tu`adhdhibaniy `alayhi

 or You want to punish me for it,

أوْ تُقايِسَنِي بِهِ

 aw tuqayisaniy bihi

 or to retaliate upon me because of it,

أنْ لا يَطْلُعَ فَجْرُ هَذِهِ اللَيْلَةِ

 an la yatlu`a fajru hadhihii allaylati

 (I beseech You that) before dawn of this night rises

أوْ يَتَصَرَّمُ هذا الشَّهْرُ

 aw yatasarramu hdha alshshahru

 And before this moth elapses

إلاَّ وَقَدْ غَفَرْتَهُ لي

 illa waqad ghafartahu le

 (please) forgive it for me;

يا أرْحَمَ الرّاحِمِينَ.

 ya arhama alrrahimena.

 O the most Merciful of all those who show mercy.

اَللّهُمَّ لَكَ الْحَمْدُ بِمَحامِدِكَ كُلِّها

 allahumma laka alhamdu bimahamidika kulliha

 O Allah: all praise be to You in all expressions of praise—

أوَّلِها وَآخِرِها

 awwaliha wa-akhiriha

 The first and the last expressions;

ما قُلْتَ لِنَفْسِكَ مِنْها

 ma qulta linafsika minha

 Expressions that You have said about Yourself,

وَما قالَ الْخَلائِقُ الْحامِدونَ

 wama qala alkhalaiiqu alhamiduna

 And expressions that have been used by the created beings;

الْمُجْتَهِدونَ الْمَعْدودونَ

 almujtahiduna alma`duduna

 The beings that are diligent, selected,

الْمُوَقِّرونَ ذِكْرِكَ

 almuwaqqiruna dhikrika

 Revering their mention of You,

وَالشُّكْرَ لَكَ

 walshshukra laka

 And their thanking You,

الَّذينَ أعَنْتَهُمْ عَلى أداءِ حَقِّكَ

 alladhena a`antahum `ala ada‘i haqqika

 Whom You helped carry out Your duty that is incumbent upon them,

مِنْ أصْنافِ خَلْقِكَ

 min asnafi khalqika

 From among the varieties of Your creatures;

مِنَ الْمَلائِكَةِ الْمُقَرَّبينَ

 mina almalaiikati almuqarrabena

 Such as the Favorite Angels,

وَالنَّبِيِّينَ وَالْمُرْسَلِينَ

 walnnabiyyena walmursalena

 The Prophets, the Messengers,

وَأصْنافِ النّاطِقينَ

 wa-asnafi alnnatiqena

 And the other varieties who speak of Your praise

وَالْمُسَبِّحِينَ لَكَ مِنْ جَمِيعِ الْعالَمِينَ

 walmusabbihena laka min jame`i al`alamena

 And glorify You from among all the creatures.

عَلى أنَّكَ بَلَّغْتَنا شَهْرَ رَمَضانَ

 `ala annaka ballaghtana shahra ramazana

 (Praise be to You for) You have allowed us to witness the month of Ramadhan,

وَعَلَيْنا مِنْ نِعَمِكَ

 wa`alayna min ni`amika

 While we are covered by Your graces

وَعِنْدَنا مِنْ قِسَمِكَ وَإحْسانِكَ

 wa`indana min qisamika waihsanika

 And we are enjoying Your bounties and favors

وَتَظاهُرِ إمْتِنانِكَ

 watazhahuri imtinanika

 And Your evident conferrals.

فَبِذَلِكَ لَكَ مُنْتَهى الْحَمْدِ

 fabidhalika laka muntaha alhamdi

 For all that, the ultimate praise be to You,

الْخالِدِ الدّائِمِ

 alkhalidi alddaiimi

 Praise that is perpetual and ceaseless

الرّاكِدِ الْمُخَلَّدِ السَّرْمَدِ

 alrrakidi almukhalladi alssarmadi

 And endless and eternal and everlasting

الَّذي لا يَنْفَدُ طُولَ الأبَدِ

 alladhy la yanfadu tuwla alabadi

 Praise that never ends evermore.

جَلَّ ثَناؤكَ

 jalla thanau´ka

 Splendid be the praising of You,

أعَنْتَنا عَلَيْهِ حَتّى قَضَيْنا صِيامَهُ وَقِيامَهُ

 a`antana `alayhi hatta qazayna syamahu waqyamahu

 For You have helped us accomplish our fasting and acts of worship in this month,

مِنْ صَلاةٍ وَما كانَ مِنّا فيهِ مِنْ بِرٍّ

 min salatin wama kana minna fehi min birrin

 Including prayers and whatever good deed that we have done during this month

أوْ شُكْرٍ أوْ ذِكْرٍ.

 aw shukrin aw dhikrin.

 As well as all praise and mention of You.

اَللّهُمَّ فَتَقَبَّلْهُ مِنّا بِأحْسَنِ قَبولِكَ

 allahumma fataqabbalhu minna biahsani qabulika

 O Allah: (please) accept all that from us with the most excellent of Your approval

وَتَجاوُزِكَ وَعَفْوِكَ

 watajauuzika wa`afuika

 And Your overlooking and Your pardoning

وَصَفْحِكَ وَغُفْرانِكَ

 wasafhika waghufranika

 And Your excusing and Your forgiving

وَحَقِيقَةِ رِضْوانِكَ

 wahaqeqati rizuanika

 And the actuality of Your pleasure

حَتّى تُظْفِرَنا فِيهِ بِكُلِّ خَيْرٍ مَطْلوبٍ

 hatta tuzhfirana fehi bikulli khayrin matlubin

 So that You may make us win all good turns that is besought

وَجَزيلِ عَطاءٍ مَوهُوبٍ

 wajazeli `ata‘in mawhuwbin

 And the abundant share from any gifted bestowal

وَتُوَقِّيَنا فِيهِ مِنْ كُلِّ مَرْهوبٍ

 watuwaqqeana fehi min kulli marhubin

 And that You save us from any dangerous matter,

أوْ بَلاءٍ مَجْلوبٍ

 aw bala‘in majlubin

 Or any anticipated misfortune

أوْ ذَنْبٍ مَكْسوبٍ.

 aw dhanbin maksubin.

 Or any committed sin.

اَللّهُمَّ إنّي أسْألُكَ بِعَظيمِ ما سَألَكَ بِهِ أحَدٌ مِنْ خَلْقِكَ

 allahumma inny asaluka bi`azhemi ma sa-alaka bihi ahadun min khalqika

 O Allah: I beseech You in the name of the greatest of all these by which any of Your servants have besought You,

مِنْ كَريمِ أسْمائِكَ

 min karemi asmaiika

 Including Your Noble Names,

وَجَميلِ ثَنائِكَ

 wajameli thanaiika

 And the excellent praising of You

وَخاصَّةِ دُعائِكَ

 wakhassati du`a’ika

 And private supplication to You

أنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلى مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ

 an tusallea `ala muhammadin wa-ali muhammadin

 That You may send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,

وَأنْ تَجْعَلَ شَهْرَنا هَذا أعْظَمَ شَهْرِ رَمَضانَ مَرَّ عَلَيْنا

 wa-an taj`ala shahrana hadha a`zhama shahri ramazana marra `alayna

 And You may decide this month of Ramadhan to be the greatest month in blessings that we have ever witnessed

مُنْذُ أُنْزِلْنا إلى الدُّنْيا بَرَكَةً

 mundhu aunzilna ila alddunya barakatan

 Since we were sent down to this world,

في عِصْمَةِ دِينِي

 fy `ismati dene

 As regarding protection of my religion,

وَخَلاصِ نَفْسِي

 wakhalasi nafse

 And redemption of myself

وَقَضاءِ حَوائِجِي

 waqaza‘i hawa’ije

 And settlement of my needs

وَتُشَفِّعَنِي في مَسائِلِي

 watushaffi`aniy fy masa’ile

 And that You may accept my intercession to You concerning Your settlement of my requests

وَتَمامِ النِّعْمَةِ عَلَيَّ

 watamami alnni`mati `alayya

 And Your perfecting Your graces upon me

وَصَرْفِ السّوءِ عَنّي

 wasarfi alssu‘i `anne

 And Your keeping evil away from me

وَلِباسِ الْعافِيَةِ لي فِيهِ

 walibasi al`afeati ly fehi

 And Your dressing me with well-being during this month,

وَأنْ تَجْعَلَني بِرَحْمَتِكَ مِمَّنْ خِرْتَ لَهُ لَيْلَةَ الْقَدْرِ

 wan taj`alany birahmatika mimman khirta lahu laylata alqadri

 And that You may include me, out of Your mercy, with those whom You allowed to obtain the benefits of the Grand Night

وَجَعَلْتَها لَهُ خَيْراً مِنْ ألْفِ شَهْرٍ

 waja`altaha lahu khayran min alfi shahrin

 And those for whom You have decided this Night to be better than one thousand months,

في أعْظَمِ الأجْرِ

 fy a`zhami alajri

 As regarding obtaining its vastest rewards,

وَكَرائِمِ الذُّخْرِ

 wakaraiimi aldhdhukhri

 And its noblest gifts

وَحُسْنِ الشُّكْرِ

 wahusni alshshukri

 And approving praiseworthiness

وَطولِ العُمْرِ

 watuli al`umri

 And obtaining long lifetime

وَدَوامِ الْيُسْرِ.

 wadawami aleusri.

 And perpetuity of comfort.

اَللّهُمَّ وَأسْألُكَ بِرَحْمَتِكَ وَطَوْلِكَ

 allahumma wasaluka birahmatika watawlika

 O Allah: I also beseech You in the name of Your mercy and Your beneficence

وَعَفْوِكَ وَنَعْمائِكَ

 wa`afuika wana`maiika

 And Your pardon and Your graces

وَجَلالِكَ وَقديمِ إحْسانِكَ وَامْتِنانِكَ

 wajalalika waqdemi ihsanika wamtinanika

 And Your majesty and Your eternal favoring and conferral

أنْ لا تَجْعِلَهُ آخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنّا لِشَهْرِ رَمَضانَ

 an la taj`ilahu akhira al`ahdi minna lishahri ramazana

 That You may not decide this month of Ramadhan to be the last one in our lifetime;

حَتّى تُبَلِّغَناهُ مِنْ قابِلٍ عَلى أحْسَنِ حالٍ

 hatta tuballighanahu min qabilin `ala ahsani halin

 Rather, You may decide us to catch the coming month of Ramadhan while we enjoy the best of manners

وَتُعَرِّفَني هِلالَهُ مَعَ النّاظِرِينَ إلَيْهِ وَالْمُعْتَرِفينَ لَهُ

 watu`arrifany hilalahu ma`a alnnazhirena ilayhi walmu`tarifena lahu

 And that You may decide us to see the new moon of the next month of Ramadhan by including me with those who will see it and realize its value

في أعْفى عافِيَتِكَ

 fy a`fa `afeatika

 While I am enjoying the best wellbeing

وَأنْعَمِ نِعْمَتِكَ

 wan`ami ni`matika

 And the most blissful of Your bounties

وَأوْسَعِ رَحْمَتِكَ

 Wa’awsa`i rahmatika

 And the most expansive of Your mercy

وَأجْزَلِ قِسَمِكَ

 wajzali qisamika

 And the most abundant of the share of Your sustenance that You decide for me.

يا رَبِّيَ الَّذي لَيْسَ لي رَبٌّ غَيْرُهُ

 ya rabbea alladhy laysa ly rabbun ghayruhu

 O my Lord save Whom I have no lord;

لا يَكونُ هَذا الوَداعُ مِنّي لَهُ وَداعَ فَناءٍ

 la yakunu hadha aluada`u minny lahu wada`a fana‘in

 (please) do not decide that this words of bidding the month of Ramadhan farewell to be the last farewell after which there will be my termination

وَلا آخِرَ الْعَهْدِ مِنّي لِلِّقاءِ

 wala akhira al`ahdi minny lilliqa‘i

 And do not decide this time to be the last of my meeting the month of Ramadhan;

حَتّى تُرِيَنّيهِ مِنْ قابِلٍ في أوْسَعِ النِّعَمِ وأفْضَلِ الرَّجاءِ

 hatta tureannehi min qabilin fy awsa`i alnni`ami wafzali alrraja‘i

 Rather, You may decide that You will enable me to witness the coming Ramadhan while I am enjoying the most expansive graces and attaining the best of my hopes

وأنَا لَكَ عَلى أحْسَنِ الْوَفاءِ

 wana laka `ala ahsani aluafa‘i

 And I am loyal to You in the most faithful manner.

إنَّكَ سَمِيعُ الدُّعاءِ.

 innaka same`u alddu`a‘i.

 Verily, You are the Hearer of prayers.

اَللّهُمَّ اسْمَعْ دُعائي

 allahumma asma` du`a’e

 O Allah: (please) respond to my prayer,

وَارْحَمْ تَضَرُّعي وَتَذَلُّلي لَكَ

 warham tazarru`y watadhalluly laka

 And have mercy upon my acquiescence and submission before You

وَاسْتِكانَتِي وَتَوَكُّلي عَلَيْكَ

 wastikanatiy watawakkuly `alayka

 As well as my humbleness and reliance upon You,

وَأنا لَكَ مُسَلِّمٌ

 wana laka musallimun

 While I am totally subservient to You;

لا أرْجو نَجاحاً وَلا مُعافاةً

 la arjw najahan wala mu`afatan

 I hope success and wellbeing

وَلا تَشْريفاً وَلا تَبْليغاً إلاَّ بِكَ وَمِنْكَ

 wala tashrefan wala tableghan illa bika waminka

 And honoring and attainment of my hopes from none save You and through none save You;

 

فَامْنُنْ عَلَيَّ

 famnun `alayya

 So, (please) do this favor to me—

جَلَّ ثَناؤكَ

 jalla thanau´ka

 Splendid be the praising of You,

وَتَقَدَّسَتْ أسْماؤكَ

 wataqaddasat asmau´ka

 And sacred be Your Names—

بِتَبْليغي شَهْرَ رَمَضانَ وَأنا مُعافىً مِنْ كُلِّ مَكْروهٍ وَمَحْذورٍ

 bitableghy shahra ramazana wana mu`afan min kulli makruhin wamahdhurin

 By allowing me to witness the (coming) month of Ramadhan while I am delivered from any apprehensive and fearful matter

وَمِنْ جَمِيعِ البَوائِقِ،

 wamin jame`i albawa’iqi,

 And from all misfortunes.

اَلْحَمْدُ للهِ الَّذي أعانَنا عَلى صِيامِ هَذا الشَّهْرِ وَقِيامِهِ

 alhamdu lillahi alladhy a`anana `ala syami hadha alshshahri waqyamihi

 All praise be to Allah Who has helped us observe fasting during this month and do acts of worship

حَتّى بَلَّغَني آخِرَ لَيْلَةٍ مِنْهُ.

 hatta ballaghany akhira laylatin minhu.

 Until I am witnessing the last night of this month.
