Speaking on Al-Kawthar program ‘The Other Side’, Sheikh Sadeq Ikhwan said according to the Holy Quran, unity is one of the goals of the divine religions, quoting a verse in Surah al-Baqarah that says “Mankind was [of] one religion [before their deviation]; then Allah sent the prophets as bringers of good tidings and warners and sent down with them the Scripture in truth to judge between the people concerning that in which they differed.”
Referring to unity as one of the divine gifts, Ikhwan stressed that unity and solidarity is a necessity and one of the main requirements for the society and the human civilization. He added that unity helps achieve an ideal and desired life.
The cleric said whoever calls for the contrary and supports difference and division is actually calling for something that contradicts the reason.
He reiterated that the Holy Quran and the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) called for unity, quoting a part of a verse in the Quran that says “And hold firmly to the rope of Allah all together and do not become divided.”
The cleric emphasized that the Islamic unity is a religious duty.
