Abu Dharr Al-Ghifari

In the Waddan valley which connects Mecca with the outside world, lived the tribe of Ghifar. The Ghifar existed on the meagre offerings of the trade caravans of the Quraysh which plied between Syria and Mecca. It is likely that they also lived by raiding these caravans when they were not given enough to satisfy their needs.

Sad

The Surah takes its name from the alphabetic letter Sad with which it begins.

The Mahdi from among the Descendants of the Prophet

Such hadith-reports are abundant. The main idea that runs through all of them suggests that the topic about the future coming of the Mahdi and Qa’im during the time of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his progeny) was well known.
