Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque an architectural Masterpiece

Standing on the eastern side of Naqsh-e Jahan Square in Iran city of Isfahan, Sheikh Lotfollah Mosque is one of the architectural masterpieces of the Safavid era.

Nicknamed ‘nesf-e jahân’ [half the world], it’s with good reason that Esfahan is Iran’s crown jewel and one of the main two cities drawing visitors to the country.

Naqsh-e Jahan Square

Naqsh-e Jahan Square is probably the main attraction in Esfahan, and what earns it the nickname nesf-e jahan, ‘half the world’. Built in the 17th century, this massive square was once a royal polo field.
