Who Is Imam Ali (as)?
Amir al-mu"minln Ali (upon whom be peace) was the son of Abu Talib, the Shaykh of the Banu Hashim. Abu Talib was the uncle and guardian of the Holy Prophet (sawas) and the person who had brought the Prophet (sawas) to his house and raised him like his own son.
Early youth of Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS)
Ali ibn Abu Talib describes this enlightening period of his age as under: The Prophet Mohammed (PBUH) used to go to the Cave of Hira but nobody except he (pbuh) and I did know about it. At the time when the religion of Islam had not yet reached the homes, he (pbuh) and his wife Khatijah (SA) were the only Muslims.
Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib's (AS) way or Training
The city of Kufa was the capital of the Islamic Government. People from all over the World used to gather at that point to get the benefit of knowledge and learning from that great Islamic University.
Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) and Holy War
Islam is the religion of peace and tranquility and does not like killing, plundering, and bloodshed. But if some one kills another without any reason then Islam has strong punishment to deal with him.
Self-Sacrifice and Devotion of Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS)
There is no doubt to it that every body loves his soul and very rarely gets ready to sacrifice it for another person but because of the fact that Imam Ali ibn Abu Talib (AS) loved the soul of the Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) even more than his own one, he got prepared to lay his life for him.
The Last Will And the Testament
The following is one piece of advice offered to his sons, Imam Hasan (pbuh) and Imam Hussain (pbuh), as well as to his people, the nation and coming generations:

Thanks God who bestowed us the intellect and named us human who is the outcome of life; therefore, their mental and physical health is our collective great responsibility. The exalted God states the human creation, and then granting generosity to them in Koran. God created them as divine creatures and descended the Fetra" verse, accordingly. Hereby we are to become familiar with concepts of normality and health.
Up on the shoulders of the Messenger of God…
One night, when the Prophet [pbuh] was at home with his wife Khadijah, he asked Imam Ali (as) to go to their house. Without any hesitation Imam obeyed his command and went there; it seemed that the Messenger of God was ready to go outside in the darkness of the night; but he didn’t say anything about his plans and he just said:” Ali! Be ready and do follow me, wherever I go.”

In his Isnad narrating from Hadhrat Salman (may God be pleased with him) that:
