Prophethood
Prophethood by Sheikh Mohammad aal Yasin
We send the apostles only to give good news and to warn: so those who believe and mend (their lives),- upon them shall be no fear, nor shall they grieve
Jafar ibn Abi Talib
In spite of his noble standing among the Quraysh, Abu Talib, an uncle of the Prophet, was quite poor. He had a large family and did not have enough means to support them adequately. His poverty-stricken situation became much worse when a severe drought hit theArabian Peninsula. The drought destroyed vegetation and livestock and, it is said, people were driven to eat bones in the struggle for survival.
AL-LAHAB
The Surah takes its name from the word Lahab in the first verse.
AT-TIN (The Figtree)
The Surah has been so named after the very First wordat-tin.
Qaf
The Surah derives its name from the initial letter Qaf, thereby implying that it is the Surah which opens with the alphabetic letter Qaf.
AL –NABA
The Surah derived its name from the wordan-Naba in the second verse. This is not only a name but also a title of its subject matter, forNaba implies the news of Resurrection and Hereafter and the whole Surah is devoted to the same theme.
Shura (Consultation)
It is derived frog the sentence wa amru-hum shura baina hum of verse 38 implying thereby that it is a Surah in which the word shura has occurred.
Mu'min (The Forgiving [God]
The Surah takes its name Al Mu'min from verse 28 implying thereby that it is a Surah in which Al Mu'min (the Believer of Pharaoh's people) has been mentioned.
Saffat (Drawn Up in Ranks)
The name is derived from the word was saffat with which the Surah begins.
Al-Qasas (Stories)
The Surah takes its name from verse 25 in which the word Al-Qasas occurs. Lexically qasas means to relate events in their proper sequence. Thus from the view- point of the meaning too this word can be a suitable title for this Surah for in it the detailed story of the Prophet Moses has been related.
