A Commentary on the Hamd Surah (part 7)
There is a great controversy about the word, the derivation and meaning of the worlds. Some say that the worlds is, plural, covering all kinds of creation, material and abstract, and each kind is a world in itself.
NUH
"Nuh" is the name of this Surah as well as the title of its subject matter, for in it, from beginning to the end, the story of the Prophet Noah has been related.
AL –MURSALAT ([Winds] Sent Forth)
The Surah takes its name from the word wal-mursalat in the first verse.
Ra'd(Thunder)
This Surah takes its name from the word "al-Ra'ad" (thunder) that occurs in v. 13. It is merely the symbolic name of the Surah and does not in any way mean that the Sura deals with the scientific problems connected with thunder.
Nahl(Bees)
The name An-Nahl of this Surah has been taken from v. 68. This is merely to distinguish it from other Surahs.
