Doors of Achaemenid City will Open to Tourists

The Rivi historic site is a significant Achaemenid city in northeastern Iran. It will open to the public for the first time in March 2019 on the Iranian New Year, Nowruz.

One of the biggest festivities of Iran is Nowruz, or New Year that begins on the first day of spring. Although Nowruz starts from the first day of spring, rituals and traditions of this ancient festival start from weeks before and one of them is the beautification of all places, from homes to the cities which is taking place this year in a very large scale in the city of Tehran.

Nowruz, which literally means “New Day”, marks the first day of spring and the beginning of the year on the Iranian calendar. Iranians seize the occasion to renew their surroundings as spring arrives.
