An introduction to the Sciences of the Qur'an (Ulum al Qur'an) By: Ahmad von Denffer
The Qur'an contains the revelations of Allah, the Creator and Sustainer of the Universe, to mankind. It is the message from God to man and therefore of utmost importance to us.
Al-Qari'ah (The Stunning [Blow])
The Surah takes its name from its first wordal- qari'ah. This is not only a name but also the title of its subject matter, for the Surah is devoted to Resurrection.
Al-ZILZAL (The Earthquake)
It is derived from the wordzilzal in the first verse.
Transmission of the Qur'anic Revelation
The revelation contained in the Qur'an has been transmitted to us by numerous persons in two ways: orally and in written form.
Ziyarah of Imam Ali Naqi Al-Hadi (pbuh)
Recitation of this ziyarah of holy Prophet Muhammad (pbuh &hp)’s tenth infallible descendant Hazret Imam Ali Naqi bin Muhammad Al-Hadi (pbuh), who was born on 5th Rajab, is much rewarding. His holy shrine is housed in the holy city of Samra, Iraq.
Al-BAYYINAH (Evidence)
The Surah is so designated after the word al-bayyinah occurring at the end of the first verse.
Al-'ADIYAT (The Chargers)
The Surah has been so entitled after the wordal 'adiyat with which it opens.
AT-TIN (The Figtree)
The Surah has been so named after the very First wordat-tin.
Al-'ALAQ (The Clot)
