Takht-e-Jamshid (Persepolis)

Persepolis was the ceremonial capital of the Achaemenid Empire (ca. 550–330 BC). It is situated 60 km northeast of the city of Shiraz in Fars Province, Iran.

One of the wider-known places of pride amongst Iranians, Persepolis is what remains of the ceremonial capital of the great Achaemenid Empire from 550-330 BC. It is believed that Cyrus the Great chose the site for his capital, which his son Darius later inherited.
