Theoretical aspects of the Islamic Republic from the view points of Imam Khamenei

The necessity to examine the concept of "Islamic Republic

The highest level of achievement is establishing a government resulted by faith and reliance on the developed religion of Islam. A movement that since late years ago with scholars' involvement in the history of Iran has been empowered and with the prosperity of Islamic Revolution in its early basis has been established. This type of government is a new movement based on Islamic rules that its exact recognition by the public from one side and the authorities' on the other hand, will help both people and the authorities play their roles quite well.

Ijtihad based on state law, the main source of the establishment of religious democracy

In this process the chief strategy is to end scientific and practical approaches of "Ijtihad". In fact, "Ijtihad is a method and a form as well as a policy toward reality so; we ought to that quality. However, if someone does not know the way, it is evident that he will not gain the truth. Both individually and socially whatever that paves the way toward truth and reality will inevitably be an element of that Ijtihad. This is current in all levels of the social ranks that the government in this process should be under the permanent effort. In the Islamic thought, experts, scholars and people who have the power of Ijtihad and deduction in the intellectual and theoretical revolution should always think and complete the thoughts. This is the logic of Islam. Then, when that province is acceptable that the legislator have been enforced that and the implementation of the legislator is that one who we give him guardianship. This is the logic of religious democracy that is very strong and deep. So, a believer can accept this logic with full conviction and practice it; there is no room for temptation. In this paper, we have a brief look at this divine system in order to gain a better understanding of this governmental system. The Islamic Republic is composed of two intertwined pillars, a pillar of that is "Islamism" and other one is "republicanism that will be described later.

Republicanism is one of the two pillars in religious democracy

Republicanism means the authorities to be member of people or close to them; they do not have the temperament of aristocracy, separation of people, mood indifference and contempt for the people that is, the public opinion, the dignity of the people, the people's identity, the character of the people and their dignity should be regarded.
That is, the expansion of a change, a thought, expansion of a social reformer depends on how much people might be associated together. So, authentic criteria for the recognition of the revolution and its happening, is its publicism and in other words, what causes a trend of thought and political discourse is its penetration among people.
This expression is important because the people's fundamental role not symbolically and as a slogan but in the area of administrative requirements and environmental processing of the community has a decisive role. Proving this statement in history of Iran has numerous examples that careful look at it determines its affectivity.
In the history of our country the Power displacements, coming kings and dynasties and their deposing have not had related to people; but this ruling dynasties, and those existed throughout our history which could have made their own relationship with the public in a solid, warm and friendly manner their stability and success in running the country and national dignity have been too much so; each group of people who were cut off, they lost everything that perfect example of that is Qajar dynasty and sinister Pahlavi dynasty in the recent times. However, the typical example of the Islamic Republic belief in people position reflected in the constitution law which has seriously been pursued and implemented by the forerunner of the revolution.
That is why all positions in Islamic Republic through elections and by vote of people is determined thus, "reliance of the ruling on the votes of the people is one of the fields in which people are involved. The presence of people and believing in them should be showed here.
In our constitution law as well as Imam's teachings and instructions, always to this point have been emphasized that the system without the support and vote of the people is actually nothing. This makes the mutual outlook of the government and people at the community management and a further new social practice is being formed that internally consolidates the system. People not just merely have been looking for the right to vote, but also feel part of the tasks of the revolution on their shoulders as owner.
In fact, elections and people's attendance in the Presidential elections, MPs and other elections is both the right of people and the duty upon them. So, In the Islamic system, people decide.
*Republicanism in Islamic system is based on establishment and not adapting
The important point in this kind of approach has been establishing and wisely adapting of this attitude that comes from scholarly revelation outlook and not is rooted the materialistic views, dramatic and attractive ones in Islamic system.
It is not relied on hollow and empty emotions and not credit-based but, it relies on a very solid and Islamic basis. We did not want someone to teach us republicanism but Islam taught it and dictated it to us. In Islam's logic, ruling over the people and community affairs is conducted by appealing to light of the Quran and commandments of God. Therefore, in the divine and celestial laws of the Koran, for the people respect and position have been defined ,hence; these are people who choose and take control of the country and this democracy is the real kind of democracy. However, it's noteworthy that after long years, first time, this attention according to the public in realizing people's aspirations in the Islamic Republic have been manifested it is because the democracy is not something with historical background in Iran.

Islamism, Other pillar of the religious democracy

Islamism is another pillar in the Islamic Republic that demands to be understood separately so that a better understanding of its composition is achieved by the public. Pluralism in Islam religion is an issue that has been neglected for many years and is regarded as one of the major causes of Muslims' backwardness in recent centuries that it is regarded as influential conspiracy in distorting and ineffective manifestation of Islam with mechanism of promoting secularism.

Islam's universality in social management

While Islam its faith and its politics is like fabric together that forms its social system and dresses the favored community so; the Quran regards the purpose of bringing justice, sending messengers and requires all believers to strive for bringing justice, and while the holy verses prohibit giving confidence to the tyrants and say to its followers: "obeying the oppressors or tyrants is against the trusting God while the primary slogan of Islam was monotheism that is, the negation of all material and political powers and all the alive idols and dead idols, and while the first action of the Prophet (PBUH) after migration, was founding government and political management and strong evidences or reasons that dictate the relation between religion and politics. Therefore, interpretations of Islam that is the base of Islamic Revolution Movement should be better recognized in order to be distinguished between what is already in functional principles of Islamic governor as standards of practice and what is considered by the Islamic Revolution. So, this is where the separation the claims of pure Islam and American puts a brighter space ahead; the pure Islam is Islam of justice and equality, Islam of dignity and protection Islam of defenders of the weak, deprived and barefoot. American Islam, in the name of Islam is something that serves the interests of the arrogant powers and justifying their actions; an excuse for isolation the religion seekers and their disregard for the Muslims' affairs and the fate of Muslim nations and specializing religion to the mosque. The reason of enmity with Islam is as far as they know "Islam, Islamic thought and the spirit arose of Qur'anic faith does not allow a nation to be suppressed and its capabilities and talents is being violated moreover; it does not allow for ignoring its innate abilities the others dominate on its fate.
This issue has been regarded of the fundamental reasons of Islamic Revolution that either the nation gets rid of the nation or the true face of Islam in the relationship between Imam and nation to be fulfilled; it is because Islam is the religion of society and religion is a public responsibility. Therefore, following religion is due to taking up the divine nature of man that can play a role in the welfare of human communities so; Islam's outlook toward mankind, to science, to human life, the world of nature and the universe, is an outlook that gives the man new knowledge.
So, the differences of outlook to the human and society in the Quran and Islam causes the control of community to be institutionalized in Islam and to be so different with liberal materialistic views. Islam suffuses all aspects of life and for each part of huge demands of life has prescriptions, treatment, solutions.
Revolution, in its origins, searches to implement Islam in all facets of human life in order to make a fundamental change in the entire international community. If we, Muslims, depreciate Islam's thoughts and go deep into it, we could create a new world based on real and innate human desires.
However, a system with this structure, humanistic and divine capital has been formed that have had evidenced results in world equations, so, of the most serious results of political and spiritual system establishment has been many changes in the world power blocks that after the collapse of one of the most powerful political and military interventions wide challenges took place in another system that ultimately for survival they began violent wars in the region. The world got used to divisions between dominant and submissiveness; traditionally, a group of nations should be remained under the yoke of exploitation and the arrogance of the governments and other nations. Islamic Revolution and the Islamic Republic was founded collapsed and uprooted this wrong system. However, it calls for more scrutiny on what is regarded as heritage of the Islamic Revolution, the Islamic Republic that its maintenance is very necessary and we are required to maintain it with more supporting and authoritative approach and using effective solutions.
