Iraqi PM: No coordination with Turkey against PKK

Iraqi Prime Minister Haider Al-‘Abadi stated that his country is not currently coordinating with Turkey in the northern part of Iraq.

Abadi stated during his weekly press conference that the Turkish military is attempting to finish these ‘anti-terror’ operations before the snap elections on June

‘Abadi added that he does not support any military confrontation between any parties in northern Iraq.

The Turkish military launched a new operation last month that targeted the outlawed Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in northern Iraq.

Since launching this operation, the Turkish Army has advanced as far south as the Qandil Mountains.

The Turkish authorities believe the PKK is headquartered in the Qandil Mountains.
