Following the spread of a news item on Iranian media that informed readers of an upcoming “Ceremony of Thanking God for the survival of the Leader," to mark the anniversary of Ayatollah Khamenei’s survival in an attempted assassination on June 27, 1981, Ayatollah Khamenei addressed the organizers and said:
"Tell them there is no need for a gratitude ceremony. Pray for me in your hearts.”
