Civilian Killed, Another Wounded in Bomb Blast in Anbar

A civilian was killed, while another was injured in a bomb blast, west of Anbar, a security source from the Iraqi police of the province said on Saturday.

“A bomb, from the remnants of war against Islamic State went off as a vehicle was passing at the eastern axis of Rutba town, west of Anbar, leaving a civilian killed and another injured,” the source told .

War remnants, according to the source, who preferred anonymity, “still exist at several regions at west of Anbar.”

A total of 76 people were killed and 129 others were injured due to acts of terrorism, violence and armed conflicts during the month of June, casualty figures recorded by the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI).

Diyala was the worst affected Governorate, according to the report, with 52 civilian casualties (16 killed, 36 injured), then came Kirkuk (10 killed, 36 injured) then Baghdad (19 killed and 18 injured).

Thousands of Daesh terrorist group were killed since the government campaign, backed by paramilitary troops was launched in October 2016 to fight the ISIS group, which declared a self-styled “caliphate” from Mosul in June, 2014.
