UAE Extends Compulsory Recruitment to 16 Months

The UAE General Command of the Armed Forces has announced the increase in the compulsory recruitment of its men from 12 months to 16 months, amid its continuous participation in the war in Yemen.

The UAE is a key member of a military alliance led by the Saudi regime against Yemen since 2015 under the pretext of the alleged restoration of legitimacy.

The UAE began compulsory recruitment in 2014 for Emirati men. The participation of women capable of service was maintained for a period of nine months, provided that conscription was optional and parental consent was required.

Men who have a high school or equivalent in the army will serve 16 months instead of 12 months and those who do not have this certificate will serve for two years.
