Birds migrate to Iran’s Astara

Rare migratory birds have migrated, with the beginning of winter, from northern parts of the planet to the protected Estil Lagoon of Astara, Iran.

Different types of birds, including pelicans, seagulls, terns, quails, cormorants and herons, migrate to the region in pursuit of warmer weather.

Located in Gilan Province, Astara County, Estil Lagoon is one of the most important tourist attractions in the region.

The lagoon covers 138 acres and has been identified as one of the top five places of tourism in Gilan Province.
