Qatar Accuses Saudi of Banning Hajj of its Pilgrims

A spokeswoman for the Qatari Foreign Ministry has accused Saudi Arabia of putting obstacles in the way of hajj trips for Qatari pilgrims, Anadolu reported on Friday.

“Saudi Arabia must deal seriously with such obstacles facing Qatari citizens,” insisted Lolwa Al-Khater, “including the hate speech of a number of Saudi journalists.”

She said that these obstacles pose a threat to Qatari citizens when they enter Saudi Arabia. Qatar no longer has a diplomatic mission in the country to deal with hajj issues.

“Every Qatari feels offended due to the Saudi measures regarding hajj because this is a duty and guaranteed right for every Muslim,” Al-Khater explained.

In closing, the Foreign Ministry official stressed that the current crisis between the Gulf States will not affect the 2022 FIFA World Cup. “The tournament will go ahead in Qatar as scheduled,” she added.
