Imam Hussien

Sheikh Muhammad Hashim al-Madani urges Muslims to follow the movement of Imam Hussein (PBUH) in order to achieve the Islamic Unity.

The Islamic unity has a regulatory framework, and the criterion for this unity is Quranic and Prophetic as well, Madani said in an interview with al-Kawthar TV.

Referring to the Quranic criterion, he said the unity which God called for is the unity in the direction towards God, citing a verse from the Quran which says “Indeed this, your community (your religion), is one community (one religion)”.

This is one community and can’t be multiple communities, Madani said, adding that this community can’t be one community or united, unless it moves in the direction towards God and worships God.

Thus, as much as you worship God then you are moving in the direction towards God and the nation will be united, the cleric explained, noting that every time the nation deviates from moving in the direction of God then this nation is not united.

Meanwhile, Madani said the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said “The congregation is those who are right, even if it is small.” Therefore, the criterion is not the great number, but being right and when you are right then you represent the united Muslim nation, the cleric added.

He stressed that “if we applied this criterion on Imam Hussien's uprising , we would find that Imam Hussien's uprising complies with this criterion as this movement is divine ‘literally’ and in the direction towards God because no one doubts that Imam Hussein (PBUH) wants the truth and is moving in the direction towards God.”

No one can say that Imam Hussein (PBUH) could do something that was not for the sake of God so all Muslims – even the proponent and the opponent - agree that Imam Hussein (PBUH) even when he revolted, he did so for the sake of God and everything he did was in obedience of God and all people say that he was faithful to God, the cleric added.

He noted that there could be someone who opposes something in the movement considering its positive and negative consequences, but all Muslims unanimously agree that Imam Hussein (PBUH) moved in the direction of God and everything he did aimed to please God.

Imam Hussein (PBUH) was acting in obedience of Allah and that movement was for the sake of the nation in order to save it and “pull it out of the bitter reality it lived”, and to rectify the nation, Madani said, adding the imam said “I rose only to seek for rectification in the nation of my grandfather, The Messenger of Allah."

If the Muslim nation wants to unite behind a principle, “which is free of impurities and in the direction towards God”, so there would be no hesitancy to follow the movement of Imam Hussein (PBUH), the cleric said.

The cleric noted that the person could be reluctant to follow a movement as he could doubt whether it is in the direction of Allah or not, stressing that as this movement is by Imam Hussein (PBUH) and with such specifications and consequences, which they are all in the direction towards God, then the person feel assured that this movement is divine and therefore it is in the direction of the Islamic unity.

“The Muslim nation has to unite behind this principle in order to achieve unity through Imam Hussein uprising,” Madani concluded.
