Chief of provincial security, Abdul Hafeez, said the Taliban stormed a strong bastion of pro-Daesh militants at Sar Dara area of restive Darzaab district in Jawjan province bordering Turkmenistan, forcing them to flee.
Ongoing clashes since the past three weeks have killed 300 fighters on both sides, he added.
Meanwhile, local Salam Afghanistan radio reported up to 100 homes were torched in the district by both sides, forcing thousands of families to flee Darzaab and neighboring Qosh Tapa districts.
Furthermore, at least 11 civilians, including women and children were killed in a roadside blast in western Farah province bordering Iran, an official said on Tuesday.
Farah governor's spokesman Naseer Mehri said that a passenger bus struck a roadside improvised explosive device, in the Bala Bulook area of the province.
''The bus was on its way from Herat province to capital Kabul; 11 passengers embraced martyrdom and more than 30 are wounded," Mehri said.
