According to the Iranian Cultural Center in Kenya, a number of teachers and Muslim scholars of the African country translated the Divine Book into Luhya.

It will be published and distributed among Luhya speaking tribes by the end of 2018.

Five Muslim scholars from Western are translating the Qur’an into the Luhya language.

They are Harun Musa, Ramadan Sebwa, Ramadhan Ndege, Ismail Were and Yusuf Malala. Must said he got the idea to translate the Qur’an when he was in prison in December 2014

A Swedish NGO titled “Seerah of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) Institute" has sponsored the translation and publication of the new translation of Quran.

The Luhya are a Bantu ethnic group in Kenya. They number about 5.3 million people according to the 2009 census, being about 16% of Kenya's total population of 38.5 million, and are the second-largest ethnic group in Kenya.

Luhya refers to both the people and their language. There are 18 tribes that make up the Luhya. Each has a distinct dialect. The word Luhya or Luyia in some of the dialects means "clan", and Abaluhya (Abaluyia) thus means "people of the clan". Other translations are "those of the same hearth."
