Israel Seizes ship Trying to Break Gaza Siege

Israeli regime naval forces seized a solidarity ship headed to the besieged Gaza Strip while in international waters overnight and steered it to the Israeli Ashdod seaport.

Spokesperson of the Israeli occupation army said in a statement that naval forces located and intercepted a Gaza-bound ship and steered it to the Ashdod seaport.

The statement added that medications and humanitarian aid on board of the ship would be sent to the Gaza Strip via Ashdod.

The International Committee for Breaking the Siege of Gaza had declared late Friday that they lost contact with the ship as it was about 40 nautical miles off the Gaza shore.

Twelve international activists from five different countries, including two British journalists, were on board of the ship.

On Sunday, Israeli naval forces attacked one of the Freedom Flotilla ships on Sunday, detained international activists on board as it was approaching the shores of the besieged Gaza Strip and redirected its sail toward the southern Israeli seaport of Ashdod.

Palestinians of the Gaza Strip had also attempted to break the siege with ships leaving the Gaza Strip with injured Palestinians on board. However, they would be boarded and sent back by Israeli naval forces.
