Pakistan Wants to Expand Ties with Iran in Filmmaking

Director General, External Publicity Wing in Pakistan’s Ministry of Information, Broadcasting and National Heritage said his country is keen to enhance cultural cooperation with Iran, especially in the fields of arts and film making.

Zahoor Ahmad Barlas said this during a meeting with caretaker of Cultural Consulate of the Embassy of Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Reza Kaka in Islamabad.

Sayed Bahadur Husseini, Bureau Chief of Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) in Islamabad was also present on the occasion.

Zahoor Ahmad Barlas expressed the hope that Pakistan Television network, the state news channel of Pakistan, will take effective measures to enhance cooperation with Iran in film making and cinema industry.

“I have seen the Iranian documentaries and I am fully aware of the high quality work of Iranian filmmakers,” he said. He was of the view that Pakistani filmmaker must cooperate with Iranian film industry to produce quality work.

Pakistani official went on to say that Persian language is an important link between Iran and Pakistan and can help in further enhancing cultural cooperation between the two countries. 

He said that Pakistan will not hesitate to take any step for the promotion of cultural cooperation with Iran. 

Zahoor Ahmad Barlas noted that Pakistan Television network and Associated Press of Pakistan (APP) should enhance their cooperation with Iranian counterparts. 

He said that we want to depute representatives of our official media outlets in Iran and would take up the matter with the upcoming government in Pakistan. 

Caretaker of Iranian Cultural Consulate Mohammad Reza Kaka on the occasion congratulated Pakistan on holding of free, fair and transparent elections across the country on July 25.

He said that Iran wants to enhance its cooperation with Pakistan not only in cultural sector but in news making and media sector. 

He said that future of Iran, Pakistan cooperation is bright and hoped that both countries would take further steps to enhance their bilateral ties. 

He also presented four important cultural photographs to DG Zahoor Ahmad Barlas to be displayed at the main hall of the External Publicity wing of Pakistan.
