Matisse Supports Formation Military Command Focusing on Space

US Defense Secretary, James Matisse, on Tuesday supported the idea of a military command focusing on space, but did not give the promise of a "Space Force" as a new branch of the military that President Donald Trump spoke about.

Matisse has previously expressed opposition to the establishment of a new branch of the US military to focus on military assets related to space, but hinted, Tuesday, that he does not rule out the idea and leave the door open to this possibility, saying that he is coordinating with US Vice President Mike Pence and fully agrees with the White House in this proposition. "I do not have all the final answers yet. We are still looking at it," he added.

Trump had ordered the creation of a sixth branch of the US Army to focus on space, a move critics said could damage Air Force, but the US military could create a unified space combat command like the one it created to focus on cyberspace
