Locals said that Israeli forces stormed Al-Khalīl City, stopped and searched Palestinian residents and vehicles.
Sources added that clashes broke out in the area between Palestinian youths and Israeli forces afterwards, in which youths threw stones and Israeli forces responded by firing several sound canisters and tear-gas bombs.
Besides, Israeli forces detained six Palestinian women, on Wednesday, while being present at the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied East Jerusalem.
Local sources told Ma'an that Israeli forces detained six Palestinian women including an elderly woman; they were identified as Nahida Abu Shaqra, 65, Salasbil Imara, Sajida Mahamid, Samah Mahamid, Sujoud Mahamid and Nour Mahajneh.
Sources added that Nahida and Salasbil were detained from a local market near the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound, while the others were detained while at the gates of Al-Aqsa.
Reasons for their detention remained unknown.
Israeli security forces also summoned another woman, Khadija Khweis, for interrogation.
Palestinian Prisoners' Center for Studies said that during the past month, Israeli authorities have increased the number of detentions against Palestinians, specifically from occupied East Jerusalem.
The monthly report regarding detentions showed that a total of 550 Palestinians were detained, including 85 children and 19 females.
According to prisoners rights group Addameer, there are 5,820 Palestinian prisoners being held in Israeli prisons, of whom 63 are female prisoners.
