Father of Wahhabism Founder Warned against His Son

A senior Hanbali scholar has mentioned that the father of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, the founder of the Wahhabism Takfiri ideology, had warned against his son, Sheikh Assad Muhammad Qasir, a professor at Qom Seminary (hawza) says.

Speaking on Al-Kawthar Program “Provisions of Islam”, Qasir quoted a senior Hanabli scholar as saying that Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab differed than his father.

Accoding to Qasir, the Hanbali scholar said in his book that the founder of Wahhabism started preaching after the death of his father as Abd al-Wahhab was warning the Muslims against his son and was angry at him because he did not study Islamic Fiqh (Islamic Jurisprudence).

Sheikh Qasir added that the Hanbali scholars were like other Muslim scholars did not Takfir people or declare a Muslim as an infidel, noting that Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab became a Takfiri because he did not study the Islamic Fiqh and understand it.

According to the Hanbali scholar, Abd al-Wahhab expected that his son would do evil things, and was warning the people against him.

Suliman, the brother of Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab, also opposed his ideology, citing verses in the Holy Quran, the Hanbali scholar said, adding that the founder of Wahhabsim only accepted the views of Taqi ad-Din Ahmad ibn Taymiyyah and his student Ibn Qayyim.
