"The series of war, annihilation and direct targeting of water facilities have intensified in recent months, resulting in the significant increase in the damage to the infrastructure of the water and sanitation sector, which cost about 600 million Dollars," Minister of Water and Environment in the National Salvation Government, Nabil Al-Wazir said.
In a joint press conference of the Ministries of Health, Electricity and Fish Wealth Tuesday in Sana'a, Al-Wazir said that the aggression targeted water wells, sewage treatment plants and water reservoirs throughout Yemen, especially in the northern regions, which affected the water sector.
He called on the United Nations to take its responsibility and play its role to prevent targeting of water and sanitation infrastructure, as well as health and electricity.
Minister of Fish Wealth Bashir al-Khaiwani said that the number of Yemeni fishermen who died during fishing amounted to 224 martyrs, in addition to 206 injuries. He pointed out that the fish sector suffers from air raids of the US-Saudi aerial aggression since the start of the war on Yemen, which have reached 70 direct raids targeted fishing centers, ports and fishing boats.
Al-Khaiwani revealed that the losses of the fishing sector in the provinces of Hodeidah and Hajjah alone amounted to 5 billion and 642 million dollars, in addition to the suspension of 75 factory for the processing and preparation of fish.
He stressed that about 36 thousand workers in the fish sector have stopped working because of the aggression targeting of fishermen.
