Syria invasion to end US hegemony: Analyst

American military intervention in Syria could lead to the end of US hegemony because of potential Russia’s response to such invasion, says a former US officer.

Scott Bennett, former US army psychological warfare officer, told Press TV on Friday that US President Donald Trump “himself has to make the decisions not to invade Syria, not to engage in a war, because it would be the end of his presidency and it could be the end of the United States of America.”

“If the Americans enter the conflict with Syria, it would spark a conflict with Russia and Iran and China, which can destroy every naval vessel in the Mediterranean and every American soldier illegally standing on Syrian ground.”

The three other powers are expected to warn the US president: “Do not test us, because this world cannot stand another Libya, cannot stand another Iraq, cannot stand another Afghanistan and we are not going to allow Syria to fall,” Bennett added.

The American people do not want a war, but there are some “Zionist lunatics” that are providing President Trump with “very poor intelligence” about truths on the ground in Syria, the analyst noted.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a press conference in the capital Moscow on Thursday that his country is concerned about the US attempts to prepare the global public opinion for new military aggression against Syria.
