Russian MiG-31 Fighter Jet Crashes East of Moscow

A Russian MiG-31 fighter jet crashed in Nizhny Novgorod district east of Moscow.

The Russian Defense Ministry confirmed that the fighter crashed during during a planned training flight at one of the military airfields in the Nizhny Novgorod region, both pilots successfully ejected.

The ministry pointed out that the plane did not carry in this flight ammunition, adding that the  preliminary data indicates that the cause of the accident was a technical malfunction.

The incident comes two days after a Russian Il-20 reconnaissance plane was shot down in Syria.
