Daughter of the head of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria Sheikh Ibrahim Zakzaky, Suhaila Zakzaky, said her father is at risk of execution while being arbitrarily detained by the Nigerian government.

Zakzaky made her remarks on Friday during her participation in a seminar of the International Council for Fair Trial and Human Rights in Geneva, Switzerland.

She said the circumstances of her parent's arrest have been seriously deteriorating over the past three years, revealing that they were transferred to another prison on May 15 this year.

She added that her parents were unable to contact her so that they do not talk about their circumstances.

Zakzaky further confirmed there is no contact between her father and her mother who was detained with him, pointing out that the doctors warned her of her father's possibility to get into a coma.

She also highlighted her mother's health situation and stressed her mother's urgent need for medical intervention.

Suhaila Zakzaki pointed out that the court in Nigeria issued a decision considering the arrest of her father as "illegal", however, the Nigerian government refused to implement the decision.

For his part, the Expert in International Law and Chairman of ICSFT Professor John Vermon said "we have heard a clear example of unfair detention against a leader of a community, we can not accept such treatment and we must end it.
