Russia expressed its concerns during the multilateral security conference in Tehran that was attended also by Afghanistan’s national security adviser.
"Today we can speak of the danger of repeating this scenario on Afghanistan’s territory," Russian Security Council Secretary Nikolai said.
He noted that the situation in Afghanistan deteriorated due to the activity of the international terrorist organization IS.
He reiterated that back in 2014 many regarded ISIS as not posing a serious threat to Iraq and Syria.
The official reiterated his country’s readiness for closer cooperation with the relevant bodies of Afghanistan and other countries represented at the meeting on countering illegal drug trafficking.
Patrushev stressed that the Afghanistan crisis has no military solution and the sole way is to reach a common Afghan agreement through political means with active international support.
The meeting in Tehran is attended by Russia, Afghanistan, India, Iran and China.
