World-renowned filmmaker, Brillante Ma Mendoza, will be heading the official competition jury. Apart from Taraneh Alidoosti, other jurors include American producer Brian Burke, Hong Kong director and producer Stanley Kwan, and Japanese actress Kaho Minami.

Taraneh Alidoosti is an Iranian movie/theater actress, translator, and feminist. She has also won the Bronze Leopard for Best Actress at the 55th Locarno Film Festival (2002) in Switzerland and the Crystal Simorgh for Best Actress from the 20th Fajr Film Festival. She has previously been on the jury panels of Vesoul Film Festival (2014) in France and the Hanoi International Film Festival (2012). She has starred in numerous films, including Asghar Farhadi’s movie “The Salesman”.

The 31st Tokyo International Film Festival (2018) will run from 25 October to 3 November 2018 in Japan.
