'US abrogated JCPOA -a multilateral accord enshrined in UNSC Resolution 2231- arguing that it seeks a bilateral treaty with #Iran,' Mohammad-Javad Zarif wrote on his Twitter account late Wednesday, referring to the US' withdrawal from the international nuclear deal in May.

The deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), was signed in 2015 by the US, Russia, China, France, UK and Germany on one side, and Iran on the other.

'Today US withdrew from an actual US-Iran treaty after the ICJ ordered it to stop violating that treaty in sanctioning Iranian people. Outlaw regime,' Zarif added.

Following the announcement of the International Court of Justice ruling against the US on Wednesday, the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo declared that the United States was pulling out of the Treaty of Amity with Iran.

The Hague-based court, which is the highest judiciary body of the UN, ordered the US to lift the sanctions it has re-imposed on Iran; a major blow to the policies of President Donald Trump.

The measure was recognized as the violation of the treaty and international law.

President Trump has repeatedly claimed that Washington is seeking a bilateral treaty with Iran on nuclear program and some other issues.
