Iran, Russia to Expand Banking Cooperation

Governors of Iran and Russian Central Banks on Thursday underlined expansion of cooperation in banking network within framework of an agreed roadmap.

Governor of Central Bank of Iran Abdolnasser Hemmati, who is in Moscow at the head of Iranian delegation, conferred with Russian Central Bank Governor Elvira Nabiullina on Thursday.

The meeting took place after recent visit of Iran and Russia presidents in Tehran to promote trade and financial relations.

The two banking delegation discussed different issues such as using national currencies in trade and the structured financial messaging system, while upgrading brokerage relations level and financing development projects.

Nabiullina welcomed proposals by her Iranian counterpart and expressed the hope that bilateral banking cooperation network will expand in near future upon a mutually agreed upon roadmap.
