UK Helped Rise of Takfiri Wahhabi Ideology

Sheikh Assad Muhammad Qasir, a professor at Qom Seminary (hawza) says the United Kingdom played a role in the emergence of the Takfiri Wahhabi ideology as it selected the “divisive” ideology of Taqi ad-Din Ahmad ibn Taymiyyah 200 years ago to serve its interest.

Speaking on Al-Kawthar Program “Islamic Fiqh”, Qasir said Britain selected the ideology of Ibn Taymiyyah 200 years ago and recruited Muhammad ibn Abd al-Wahhab to revive this takfiri ideology.

He stressed that the Takfiri Wahhabi ideology is an extension of the ideology of Ibn Taymiyyah.

The cleric noted that the UK and the orientalists did not find a divisive ideology like that of Ibn Taymiyyah.

He added that the Takfiri and divisive views of Ibn Taymiyyah were demonstrated in his books which included more than 500 fatwas calling for takfiring or declaring Muslims, including Sunnis, as infidels and for killing them.

The cleric said that ideology declared Sunnis as infidels, even though Takfiris claim that they follow the Sunni sect of Islam.
