Visiting the 11th Nanotechnology International Festival in Tehran, Secretary of Iran Nanotechnology Innovation Council (INIC), Dr Saeid Sarkar, said: “This year, we are hosting over forty participants from Russia, Bolivia, Malaysia, Indonesia, Oman, South Korea, and Iraq who are pursuing a range of collaborations with Iran in the field of nanotechnology.”

He continued: “For instance, the Oman delegation were seeking for Iranian nanotechnology companies to operate with the mechanism of market development in this country and in the African countries. They want Iran to consider Oman as a manufacturing hub and platform.”

He added: “Oman Nano City will be completed by INIC in 2023. Feasibility and design studies are currently being carried out and Phase I will be constructed in an area measuring one million cubic meters on the outskirts of Muscat.

He went on to say: “This means that companies manufacturing nano-products in Iran will also launch a production line in Oman for the market here, as well as Arab and African markets.

About the number of Iranian companies working together on the Oman Nano City, Sarkar said: “Currently, Oman is working with forty companies.”

Sarkar expressed hope that at least twenty companies engaged in commercialization activities can enter the Oman market in 2019 in order to begin the manufacturing process in this country. Building and starting up the Oman Nano City will take at least five years.
