Yemenis Flee Across Red Sea to Escape War

Thousands of families have made the dangerous trip to Djibouti from Yemen, where the government there allows the refugees to live either in a camp or in the capital city.

Desperate to escape the war in Yemen, thousands of families have made the dangerous trip across the Red Sea to Djibouti, Al-Jazeera reported.

That can mean more than 10 hours on a grueling boat ride and overwhelmed aid agencies are not able to offer much support to those who arrive.

Life is very harsh in what is already a very poor country on the Horn of Africa, but the refugees feel they cannot go home until 'the situation changes'.

Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched a devastating military campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the aim of bringing back the government of Hadi back to power and crushing the country’s Houthi Ansarullah movement.

Some 15,000 Yemenis have been killed and thousands more injured since the onset of the Saudi-led aggression.

The assaults of the Saudi-led coalition forces have failed to stop the Yemenis from resisting the aggression. Recently, the Yemeni army unveiled its home-made underground missile launching pads.
