According to al-Watan daily, representatives of 15 European countries are taking part in the contest.
It has been organized by al-Furqan Quran Memorization Society.
The two-day contest has different categories, including Quran memorization and Tajweed and Tarteel recitation.
There are more than 1000 contenders competing in various categories, said Assam Falij, secretary of Kuwait-based al-Manabir Quranic Association, which is a co-organizer of the event.
He said the members of the panel of judges are Qaris and Quran experts from countries like Sudan, Morocco, Algeria, Yemen, Syria, Kuwait and Bahrain.
