Speaking on Al-Kawthar program “One Nation”, Abdel Salam said in a society where young people go behind bars and are subjected to torture in the detention centers, they become discontent over the environment they live in after their release and subsequently they begin takfiring the society (or declaring it infidel) and rise up against it and start killing people and committing acts of violence.

The cleric further noted that sometimes the unjust ruler could be the reason for the spread of extremism and violence.

He said when the ruler waste the country’s wealth and overspend and give the enemies the wealth of the country, while the people of his rich country live below the poverty line and the young people are not able to marry and start a new family life, those people follow the extremist thoughts whenever they find it. He added that after such people get arrested, they cry and admit that they were oppressed, and that they were not satisfied with what they were doing.

There are many reasons for the emergence of the culture of violence, adding that those reasons sometimes differ from one society to another and sometimes they all may exist in one society, he concluded.
