Iranian American Woman Enters US State Congress

The first Iranian-American woman , Anna Eskamani entered the State Congress in the State of Florida, USA.

Eskamani succeeded in defeating Republican candidate, Stockton Reeves, in District 47 of Florida, gaining about 57 percent of the vote in the state legislature.

Eskamani began campaigning for restoring the same economic opportunity in Orlando, and heavily focused on environmental issues and economic justice during the campaign.

Eskamani was born in Florida but her parents are from Iran.

Orlando is a city in the state of Florida, founded in 1885 and has a population of nearly 250,000 by the 2010 census.

The nationwide and statewide elections were held on Tuesday in 50 US states, IRNA reported.

“Proud to be your next State House Representative for Florida’s 47th District”, Anna Eskamani tweeted after winning in election.
