In the era of Jamal al-Din al-Afghani, the colonization or the military occupation instrumentally used some movements, which externally appear to be resistance movements bearing an Islamic or nationalist character, and used some figures to serve the interests of the occupation, Mounir told Al-Kawthar Program “One Nation”. He referred to a group in Algeria that used to describe the French colonization as a destiny and say there is no need to fight France and call on the revolutionists back then to lay down their arms.

The scholar added that history repeats itself and such ideology exists now, adding that Jamal al-Din al-Afghani had fought that ideology.

Jamal al-Din al-Afghani focused on the divine religions, Mounir said, noting that the Christians in the east were also persecuted as colonization doesn’t differentiate between a Muslim and non-Muslim. The scholar added that Afghani alerted all the residents of the east of all religions that this colonization is not an extension of the Crusades and said that the colonization is not related to the Christianity.

Mounir stressed that colonization is aimed to rob the wealth of the countries.

Afghani contacted the governments of the Islamic countries back then and warned against the subordination to the West and that the wealth of Muslims must return to Muslims, Mounir said.

He stressed that the West now repeats the same thing, and instrumentally use the religion to serve their interests.

Mounir noted that Afghani called for the respect of all religions and for equality, adding that Afghani believed that all the three divine religions see the human as the most honorable creature and believed that people of all religions and sects have the right to practice their own rituals.
