India’s 2018 International Folklore Festival of music and dance will be held from 5-12 December 2018.
Sarah Ahmadi, leader of Kaliveh ensemble, said: “The Kaliveh ensemble will be playing Kurdish folk pieces, together with a famous Indian piece called “Khwaja mere khwaja”.
Fouad Pishva will be their vocalist and musicians include Habib Ahmadifar on the santour [dulcimer], Ashakan Moradi on the kamancheh, Maraym Ahmadi on the tonbak [percussion], and Houman Shirali and Sara Ahmadi on daf and dhol.
According to Ahmadi, Kaliveh’s trip to India will not be limited to the Festival and the ensemble intends to work with Indian musicians and vocalists.
The Kaliveh ensemble performs classical Persian music. It is led by Sara Ahmadi and began work in 2011.
