Students Quran Contest Begins in Iran

The 32nd edition of the national Quran and Etrat contest for university students got underway in Mashhad, northeast Iran, on Saturday.

The city’s Ferdowsi University is hosting the four-day Quranic event, attended by more than 640 students from universities across the country.

They compete in categories like recitation and memorization of the Quran, Adhan (call to prayers), Tawasheeh (religious singing), Quranic concepts, and Quranic arts.

The opening ceremony was attended by a number of senior officials, including Minister of Science, Research and Technology Mansour Gholami.

The competition is annually organized with the aim of promoting Quranic activities among university students.
