The spread of Islam in  Japan

According to the Al-Kawthar World Network: In this report, we intend to point out the aspects of how the religion of Islam entered and spread in Japan and its people.

Al-Kawthar World Network: According to 2016 data, there are currently about 120,000 foreign Muslims and 10,000 Japanese Muslims living in the country. Most Muslims in Japan live in three major metropolitan areas (Greater Tokyo, Chukyo, and Kinki), but the Islamic network has never stopped and has spread throughout Japan.

Since the early 1990s, many mosques have been built throughout the Japanese archipelago, from Okinawa to Hokkaido.

Although there are more than 90 mosques throughout Japan, most Japanese are unaware of it. However, while many movements and initiatives have been taken in recent years to promote understanding of Islam and Muslims, more and more mosques are hosting mosque tours and competitions for the Japanese presence. Diversity in Muslim society Muslims living in Japan use a variety of contexts such as nationality, ethnicity, culture, lifestyle, clothing, and so on.

Some Muslims strictly follow customs such as prayer and fasting, while others enjoy more freedom. Thus, people who have never met or interacted with a Muslim may have stereotypes about them.

To better understand Islam and Muslims, you need to communicate with them in person.

However, they are a minority in Japanese society who have the opportunity to live in our society.

While it is not easy to change the misconceptions and stereotypes painted by us about the Muslim community painted by the media, we hope that people can help change these views by showing interest in them and visiting mosques that are open to the public.

It is estimated that the Muslim population will continue to grow in Europe and Japan, but the growth lies not only in the number of Muslim immigrants, but also in half of the Muslim population in countries such as the United Kingdom.

In Japan, about half of Muslims' permanent residency indicates residence and family formation, which means that in Japan the number of second- and third-generation Muslims will increase in the future, who will be "mixed-race Muslims." Who face different cultural contexts.

They are key people who help to work with the Muslim community at the local level.

I hope that when we meet them in the near future, we will be able to learn coordination and work together.
