Al-Qasas (Stories)
The Surah takes its name from verse 25 in which the word Al-Qasas occurs. Lexically qasas means to relate events in their proper sequence. This Sarah takes its' name from verse 112 in which the word Mai'dah occurs. Like the names of many other surahs this name has no special relation to the subject of the Surah but has been used merely as a symbol to distinguish it from other surahs.
Surah Hud
This Sura has been named after Prophet Hud whose story has been related in vv. 50-60. If we consider its theme deeply we come to the conclusion that it was revealed during the same period as Surah Yunus and most probably followed it immediately.
