 Iranian ‘Ash Festival in Zanjan

The 13th National Iranian ‘Ash Festival began work on 13th August 2018 at the Gavazang (El Daghi) recreational center in Zanjan, northwestern Iran. The event will run for four days in Zanjan. Ethnic groups from across Iran cook the different varieties of this special potage called ‘Ash in Persian with fresh herbs and legumes for the Festival. A large handicrafts show is also staged here.

Forty-five different recipes of ‘Ash will be on sale here for over 40 thousand visitors. Traditional local customs will also be on display on the sidelines of the Festival, including nine nomadic black tents holding customary ethnic rituals as symbols of tribal living in various Iranian provinces.

The Festival will run until 17 August. Visiting hours are from 18h00 to 23h00. The first edition of the event kicked off in 2005 as part of significant cultural events promoting a correct culinary culture with the slogan “Iranian food, world food”.
